Paw's Up for the President's Corner!Welcome to a new school year! As your new president, I am so excited to lead a great group of parents, teachers, and commmunity volunteers. Our school has grown even more this year with the inclusion of two more SWAS classes (School Within A School). As a parent of a SWAS student, I am looking forward to working with the Gifted and Talent program and getting to know our new teachers.

If you didn't know, PTA last year raised over $68,000.00 for Hunsberger Elementary! This year we are looking to raise even more. With the current budget cuts in education, parent and volunteer support is even more necessary. The money we raised last year went to needed improvements in technology, library books, art supplies, playground improvements and upkeep (yes, the district does not pay for landscaping maintenance), and necessities such as printer ink, to name a few things. In addition, PTA provided for great family activities (Harvest Festival, Spring Social) and learning opportunities (guest speakers from the district such as the principal of Pine Middle School.) We recognize our teachers and staff with appreciation events and look forward every year to thanking our special volunteers at the Volunteer Luncheon.
This year the Executive Board looks forward to meeting and working with new parents (as well as the "old dependables")! Every little bit helps, no matter what your skills - we need you! As Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "Everyone can be great because anyone can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't even have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve... You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love..."
